Susan Smith
Born and raised in Emerald, Susan grew up with family involved in cattle and dry land cropping industries in the local area, as well as the mining and mechanical trade industries. After working in office management positions in Emerald for a number of years, Susan commenced her Bachelor of Business degree with Central Queensland University.
Susan gained her practical experience in professional practice with a local Chartered Accounting firm. After completing her post graduate degree with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Susan became a Registered Tax Agent and established Susan Smith & Associates in Emerald.
Together with her family, Susan is actively involved in running a cattle breeding operation on their properties in the Emerald area. This direct involvement gives her an insight into the unique issues facing rural producers, as well as small business operators. She understands that primary producers contend with constantly changing business and environmental challenges and the complexities involved in assisting them to remain profitable and sustainable.
Susan has experience in advising businesses on accounting and taxation strategies, business growth, succession planning, finance, restructuring and GST.
